Can 1/2hp garage door openers open a 2 car garage door without spring?
Posted by admin on February 14, 2012 at 8:25 am | Last modified: February 14, 2012 8:25 amQuestion by xvl260: Can 1/2hp garage door openers open a 2 car garage door without spring?
Can 1/2hp garage door openers open a 2 car garage door without spring? One side of the wire on my garage door broke, right now the door is crooked. If I cut the remain wire, the door will not be sprung, will the garage door opener still have enough power to open it? This is just temp solution until I can get it fixed, but I need to know before I cut. Thanks.
What I had to do last night was, I losened the bolt that was holding the wheel that was winding the wire, it released the spring’s energy, then I just manually opened the door with a buddy. I’m going to hire a professional to fix it and wind it back to the proper tension though.

NO! Don’t cut the remaining wire!. If you have individual side springs you have a fair chance of raising the door by giving it some manual lift assistance on the broken side. BUT- if your spring is a torsion rod that mounts horizontally on the wall right above the door I would have to advise you to please not attempt any action yourself, but contact an overhead door serviceman. Those torsion bar springs are LOADED with energy waiting to be released from the counter-wound springs and can be extremely dangerous when out of balance or suddenly released. With one half of the spring gone, this places abnormal overload on the remaining half, and without wanting to seem alarmist this does greatly raise the odds any jolting/erratic motion will be just enough to cause the overloaded half to suddenly break. These springs actually are only considered to have a normal life span of around 5-7 years, even though many pass that, but when one side fails it should be held as an indication the other half is also ready to go. If you’ve got the single torsion bar, please, don’t risk it.

Posted by admin on February 9, 2012 at 8:43 am | Last modified: February 9, 2012 8:43 amQuestion by sj2nj6069: How to arrange a Word document in reverse chronological order?
I have an existing Word document with quotes, followed by dates. Is there a way I can auto-arrange these in reverse chronological order (the most recent date first)? Or do I need to import the document into Excel and do it that way? If I import the document into Excel, how would I auto-arrange in that program? Do I need to put the document into columns according to content?
The document needs to end up as a Word document. Thanks for any advice!

You can sort them if you put them in a table in Word. So, create a two column table, place your quotes in one column, and the dates in another. Place your cursor in the table, click Table on the menu bar, choose Sort, and choose which columns to sort by. If you have the dates in Column 2, choose Sort By Column 2, Then By Column 1 (if your quotes are in column 1).

I’ve been watching my clients — and myself — these past two years around the experience of charging fees, asking for payment, suggesting folks re-enroll in their programs, etc., and here’s what I’ve found …
Very few people like asking for money, and no one finds it easy — we universally hate it.
Why?
Because asking for money brings up thousands of insecurities and doubts. We’re scared to look money in the face, command it, control it, and to put ourselves out there. Asking for fair compensation means putting a formal stake in the ground about where we stand in a value equation. And most are simply too unclear about their own worthiness to do that.
Folks tell me that when they ask for money from clients or customers, questions swim inside their heads about their value, impact, and “appeal.” They fear that asking for money is the opposite of being “pleasing” to people, and will be a huge turn off. (For a fascinating discussion around if we should worry about what other people think of us, see Jonathan Fields’s recent post “What Other People Think IS Your Business.”)
In tough times like these, consultants, coaches, practitioners and entrepreneurs struggle hard to stand up for what they want/deserve in compensation or fees/prices, fearing no one will pay. And in the end, many aren’t sure themselves what their services are worth.
At the root of this money challenge are shame, doubt and insecurity: Am I good enough? How can I put a value on what I offer? Will there be enough people to pay this? Will they come back? Did they think my work was a good value? How do I fare against the competition? Did I give them great results?
In exploring the question of money with coaches and consultants who are highly financially successful and charging upwards of $400 an hour with ease, I’ve observed these five traits:
1) They have tapped into a large pool of potential clients who can easily pay their fees.
2) They’ve had prior high-level business experience and success that contributes to their sense of worth and value.
3) They’re very well-boundaried — they know where they end and others begin, and are clear about how they stack up against the competition.
4) They focus on business development continually — they understand the power of networking and building a supportive referral network.
5) Most are men.
I’ve observed in my research that men in general have greater access to a sense of “entitlement” — they believe they deserve the fees they’ve set and don’t tend to agonize or apologize about what they are worth.
Women on the other hand have been culturally trained to think less hierarchically and more about connection, equality, and empathy. Midlife women in particular simply have deeper challenges than men in standing up and speaking up about what value they bring and how they excel and stand apart from the competition. That said, for women to be successful entrepreneurs, consultants, practitioners and small business owners, they must find new ways to strengthen their ability to authoritatively command the fees they deserve.
While asking for fair compensation remains challenging for me, I’ve created greater success this year only after figuring out beyond a reasonable doubt what I feel my services are worth. I didn’t make the numbers up — I conducted diligent, open-hearted research — with clients, competition, experts, role models, the marketplace, etc. I asked my clients how they assessed the value of our work together, and the impact it made in their lives. And I left my ego at the door when these conversations occurred.
Further, I faced the powerful realization that certain professional endeavors — such as being well-known in the media — don’t necessarily bring you clients who can pay your fees. I’ve learned (and teach my clients) that you’ll be sorely disappointed in your practice or business if you don’t figure out: 1) who your ideal client is, 2) what your optimal method and model of generating income/revenue is, and 3) how you can continually find more clients you love to serve who can pay you what you deserve. In the end, you need to determine new, sure-fire methods to generate more success doing the work you love.
The reality is that for most, asking for money IS hard, but it gets easier when we become crystal clear about what we’re worth and how we’re exceptional at what we do. Once we know in our hearts and minds what to charge, then it’s time to speak up and ask for it without reservation.
Curious about your thoughts — do you find asking for money in your practice or business hard, and if so, what makes it easier for you?

Music mogul Simon Cowell has a strange relationship with his ex-girlfriends. Many people can’t stand their former partners but The X Factor judge appears to end every relationship on such good terms that he becomes lifelong friends with all of them.
However, one relationship that shows no sign of improving is between two of Simon’s past conquests – 80s pop star Sinitta and former model Jackie St Clair.
Sexy Sinitta was holidaying with 52-year-old Simon in Barbados but decided to jet back to a rainy UK as soon as she found out Jackie would be joining them on the island. The pair first fell out more than 25 years ago and are now said to be barely speaking.
A source told the Daily Mirror: “There is definitely no love lost between Sinitta and Jackie. They don’t see eye to eye and so much has gone on their relationship seems beyond repair.
“Things escalated in the past month and now they’re hardly on speaking terms. Sinitta thought it best to just leave and save face rather than suffer a holiday showdown.”
Sinitta, who had hidden her real age and used a stage age for years, deepened her war with Jackie in 2010 when she threatened to reveal the So Macho singer’s real age.
She tweeted: “Jackie St Clair, you are the source of all lies and wrong info. I’m sorry after 25 years you still won’t stop harassing and bullying.
“I’m 41 and you 51. At 15 and 25 I was afraid of you. I’m not now! Tell all you know and so will I but please tell the truth!”
At the time Sinitta publicly declared her age as 41 when she was in fact 46.
It sounds like it was a wise move for Sinitta to leave!
ATHENS (Reuters) – Greece’s stores had their worst Christmas in decades, with retail sales dropping by 30 percent compared with the same period last year as the economic crisis shattered consumer confidence, the ESEE retail federation said on Tuesday.
“Nine out of 10 Greeks are less generous, not out of choice but out of necessity,” ESEE said. “Retailers endured a Christmas gloom that chipped away any optimism they had before the holidays.”
The sharp drop in sales came despite widespread discounts by retailers in the run-up to Christmas.
Greeks have been suffering wage and pension cuts, rising inflation and a recession now into its fourth year, which has slashed living standards and forced them to cut spending.
Clothing and footwear sales dropped 40 percent, electrical goods by 30 percent, and sales in the food and drinks sector by 15 percent compared with the same period last year, ESEE said.
